On June 18, Pope Francis delivered his encyclical on the environment. An encyclical is a papal letter addressed to all bishops of the Roman Catholic Church. But the pope addressed the message to “every person living on this planet”. This message talks about how we all need to improve the environment as our planet is on a breaking point.
One of Pope Francis last points focused on the Sunday keeping, comparing it with the Biblical Sabbath. He said Sunday is important for healing our relationships with God and others, and that it motivates us to take care of the nature and the poor. 1
Later, the same day, President Barack Obama said the following in a press release through the White House: “I welcome His Holiness Pope Francis’s encyclical, and deeply admire the Pope’s decision to make the case – clearly, powerfully, and with the full moral authority of his position – for action on global climate change.” 2
“As Pope Francis so eloquently stated this morning, we have a profound responsibility to protect our children, and our children’s children, from the damaging impacts of climate change. I believe the United States must be a leader in this effort, which is why I am committed to taking bold actions at home and abroad to cut carbon pollution, to increase clean energy and energy efficiency, to build resilience in vulnerable communities, and to encourage responsible stewardship of our natural resources. We must also protect the world’s poor, who have done the least to contribute to this looming crisis and stand to lose the most if we fail to avert it.” 2
Pope Francis to Visit United States in September
In September, Pope Francis will visit United States. Part of the agenda for his visit is the following:
1. The Pope will be in Washington DC, at the White House.
2. He will address the US Congress. It is the first time ever that a Pope will do this!
3. In New York City, addressing United Nations. Practically he will address virtually all the heads of states of the world’s governments.
4. Participate in the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. Last year Pope Francis said that working on Sunday has negative effect on families.
5. Take part in an inter-religious meeting. 3
And the list continues…
Barack Obama continues to comment on Pope Francis encyclical:
“I look forward to discussing these issues with Pope Francis when he visits the White House in September. And as we prepare for global climate negotiations in Paris this December, it is my hope that all world leaders–and all God’s children–will reflect on Pope Francis’s call to come together to care for our common home.” 2
The Two Beasts of Revelation 13 are Joining Forces
Barack Obama earlier called Pope Francis “A moral leader in word and deed”. 4 His “moral leader” has just put emphasis on the importance of keeping Sunday for the environment, for the poor and earlier also for families. Soon I believe we will see more of this development in emphasizing Sunday keeping. If you study Revelation 12 and 13, you will find that the first beast, the Catholic Church, and the second beast, United States of America, will join hands, attempting to unite the whole world. While there are true and sincere believers in the Catholic Church, the system is clearly described in Bible Prophecy, and we can’t deny that fact.
Finally Revelation 13 takes us to this situation:
“And he[the second beast] had power to give life unto the image of the beast [the first beast], that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:” Revelation 13:15-16.
United States will cooperate with the Papacy, and “exercise all power” of it, and gather almost the whole world – except one group. “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him [the first beast], whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8. This group that will be saved, will on the contrary keep all God’s Commandments.
The Catholic Church have said: “Sunday is our mark of authority…the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.”
The Catholic Record of London, Ontario, Canada, September 1, 1923
The Bible says we need to keep God’s Sabbath Holy, the Seventh day. It never says to keep the first day of the week, Sunday. God calls the Sabbath a sign between Him and His people (Ezekiel 20:12)
Ellen White makes an interesting comment in 1899:
“Satan puts his interpretation upon events, and they think, as he would have them, that the calamities which fill the land are a result of Sunday-breaking. Thinking to appease the wrath of God, these influential men make laws enforcing Sunday observance. They think that by exalting this false rest day higher and still higher, compelling obedience to the Sunday law, the spurious sabbath, they are doing God service” (10MR 239).
Church and state will unite, and there will come a law enforcing Sunday observance all over the world.
God’s Call to Stand Apart
If the last battle will be about worship, we can be certain that the Sabbath will be involved. The Catholic Church claimed to change it to Sunday, and then most of the protestants followed. While the true Sabbath is a sign between God and His people, the Catholic Church claim Sunday to be a mark of their authority, calling for all people to unite and keep it for the environment, for the poor and for the family.
Can you see what is about to happen? Thankfully, there is still time to surrender to God, and be one of God’s saints “that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12
Do you want to reACT on God’s call, and uphold all of His commandments?
